The Maximum Velocity Artist Program is one of the most meaningful experiences offered during Velocity’s Season Finale.
Dancers who received an MVA Winner or MVA Runner-Up Scholarship during the 2026-2027 Regional season are invited to come together in Las Vegas for a week of training, rehearsals, competition, performance, and connection with Velocity faculty and assistants.
The program gives dancers the opportunity to challenge themselves in new ways, work alongside dancers from studios across the country, and experience the focus, collaboration, and responsibility required to bring a large-scale performance to the stage.
MVA participants will also have the opportunity to compete for the title of National Maximum Velocity Artist and perform with Velocity’s featured musical artist during the Season Finale Gala.
Velocity’s 2027 Season Finale will take place June 28 through July 4, 2027, in Las Vegas.
MVA participants should plan to arrive in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 27, so they are prepared for the MVA Program to begin on Monday, June 28.
The exact orientation and check-in time will be included in the final MVA schedule.
The Season Finale Gala and musical artist performance will take place on Sunday, July 4. We recommend departing Las Vegas on Monday, July 5, so travel does not interfere with any required rehearsals, performances, awards, or Gala activities.
The Season Finale MVA Program is available only to dancers who received one of the following scholarships during the 2026-2027 Velocity Regional season:
- MVA Winner
- MVA Runner-Up
Eligible age divisions include:
- Petite
- Mini
- Junior
- Pre-Teen
- Teen
- Senior
Dancers must register through the same valid studio account under which the scholarship was originally awarded.
If a dancer has changed studios, the former studio must email Velocity from its official account email address and provide written permission releasing the scholarship before it may be used through another studio account.
The MVA Program includes:
- MVA orientation
- MVA solo competition
- Multi-genre MVA audition
- Rehearsals with Velocity faculty and assistants
- An onsite headshot experience
- Season Finale convention classes
- Required MVA meetings and activities
- A group performance with Velocity’s featured musical artist
- The opportunity to compete for the title of National Maximum Velocity Artist
- MVA(+) consideration for eligible Teen and Senior dancers
Exact rehearsal times, ballroom assignments, competition schedules, headshot appointments, and other program details will be provided closer to the event.
The MVA Program is a full-week commitment.
Participants must be available for all required orientation meetings, rehearsals, auditions, convention classes, headshot sessions, performances, and MVA activities listed on the final schedule.
Families should avoid scheduling travel, outside activities, appointments, or other commitments that may conflict with any part of the program.
Dancers who cannot attend the full MVA Program may still use the applicable Season Finale convention tuition portion of their scholarship. They must register as regular Season Finale convention participants rather than through the MVA Program.
Dancers who do not participate in the full MVA Program will not be included in MVA scoring, rehearsals, auditions, headshots, or the musical artist performance.
Every dancer participating in the full MVA Program must perform an MVA solo.
The MVA solo is part of the dancer’s overall National MVA evaluation. It is scored separately from the regular Season Finale Competition and is not included in regular Season Finale solo overalls.
An MVA solo does not need to pre-qualify at a Regional event.
MVA participants may also enter a solo in the regular Season Finale Competition. However, a dancer competing in both the MVA Solo Competition and the regular Season Finale Competition must perform two different solos.
The regular Season Finale solo must be registered separately and must meet all applicable Season Finale competition eligibility and registration requirements.
The MVA audition gives Velocity faculty the opportunity to evaluate dancers across multiple styles.
The audition includes:
- Ballet
- Jazz
- Hip-hop
Faculty may consider each dancer’s technique, versatility, musicality, performance, adaptability, and ability to respond to direction.
The MVA audition is part of the National MVA evaluation. It is not an audition for the musical artist performance.
There is no separate audition for the featured musical artist performance. Every dancer who is fully registered for the MVA Program and completes all required program elements will participate in the performance.
National Maximum Velocity Artist recipients are selected through a combination of:
- MVA solo scores
- MVA audition scores
- Attendance at required rehearsals and convention classes
- Participation throughout the full MVA Program
Dancers are expected to arrive on time, remain engaged, follow directions, demonstrate professionalism, and participate fully throughout the week.
The dancers with the strongest combined results in each eligible age division will be recognized as National Maximum Velocity Artists.
Finalist announcements and National MVA recognition will take place according to the official 2027 Season Finale schedule.
One of the most memorable parts of the MVA Program is the opportunity to perform with Velocity’s featured musical artist during the Season Finale Gala.
MVA dancers will work with Velocity faculty and assistants to learn choreography created specifically for the performance.
This experience gives dancers the opportunity to:
- Learn choreography within a condensed rehearsal process
- Respond quickly to corrections and staging adjustments
- Work alongside dancers from many different studios
- Experience the expectations of a professional rehearsal environment
- Perform in a large-scale production with a live musical artist
- Add a meaningful performance credit to their résumé
Participation in the musical artist performance requires completion of every required part of the MVA Program.
Teen and Senior dancers participating in the MVA Program may also be considered for Velocity’s MVA(+) Program for the following season.
MVA(+) is a pre-professional experience designed to complement, not replace, the dancer’s continued training and commitment to their home studio.
Selections are based on each dancer’s work ethic, attitude, consistency, versatility, professionalism, participation, and potential throughout the Season Finale week.
Additional MVA(+) information and any required activities will be included in the official MVA schedule.
The MVA Program requires a separate registration from the regular Season Finale convention and competition registration.
To register:
- Select the 2027 Season Finale MVA Program event
- Add the eligible dancer through the correct studio account
- Select MVA Winner or MVA Runner-Up
- Register the dancer’s MVA solo
- Select the dancer’s costume size through the Add-On section
- Complete all required dancer information and waivers
- Review the registration carefully before submitting payment
Registering for the MVA Program does not automatically register the dancer for the regular Season Finale Competition.
MVA Winner and MVA Runner-Up scholarships may not be combined with other scholarships to reduce the MVA Program registration fee.
Current MVA Program rates, deposits, registration deadlines, and payment deadlines are available through Velocity’s online registration system.
Each MVA participant must submit an accurate costume size during registration.
Costume sizing is entered through the Add-On section beside the dancer’s name.
Studios and families should review the published sizing chart carefully before selecting a size. Velocity does not provide costume alterations, and replacement sizes cannot be guaranteed.
MVA participants do not need to upload or submit a headshot before Season Finale.
Each dancer will participate in an onsite headshot session as part of the MVA Program.
The dancer’s assigned headshot date and time will be included in the final MVA schedule.
Each MVA participant is required to pay the applicable MVA media fee listed within the registration system.
The MVA media package includes professional photo and video coverage of:
- The dancer’s MVA solo
- The dancer’s MVA group performance with the featured musical artist
A dancer participating in both the MVA Program and regular Season Finale competition will pay only the MVA media fee. The separate Season Finale competition media fee will not also be charged.
Studios should make sure each dancer’s name is spelled correctly and their date of birth is entered accurately so their media can be matched and accessed properly.
The MVA Program registration fee does not include a Gala ticket.
A separate Gala ticket must be purchased for an MVA dancer who plans to attend the Gala dinner and remain in the ballroom to watch the full Gala presentation.
An MVA dancer without a Gala ticket may still enter the ballroom when instructed for the musical artist performance. After performing, the dancer will return to the designated dressing or holding area and may not remain in the audience without a ticket.
MVA dancers with Gala tickets will have time to enjoy dinner before reporting to the designated area to prepare for their performance.
The Gala uses assigned seating. Studios and families wishing to sit together should coordinate before tickets go on sale and select available seats together during checkout.
The safety of MVA dancers remains a priority throughout the week.
MVA dancers must follow all check-in, rehearsal, ballroom, dressing room, and release procedures established by Velocity.
Minor dancers will be released only to the parent or guardian listed through the MVA registration and pick-up process.
Parents and guardians should be prepared to follow all identification and dancer-release requirements.
Photography and video recording are prohibited in all dressing rooms.
Rehearsing, running routines, marking choreography, and practicing tricks are also prohibited inside dressing rooms.
