Velocity’s Collegiate Dance Team Night gives dancers the opportunity to explore the exciting world of college dance teams during our Season Finale.

Created for dancers who are interested in continuing their training and performance experience at the collegiate level, this special evening brings together college dance team coaches, representatives, experienced educators, and dancers from across the country for meaningful conversations, classes, and valuable insight into the collegiate dance team experience.

Studio2Stadium sponsors Collegiate Dance Team Night and works alongside Velocity to help bring the participating schools, coaches, educational opportunities, and classes together. Their knowledge of the collegiate dance team industry helps make this evening an informative and exciting experience for dancers who are beginning to consider their options after high school.

The evening begins with the Collegiate Dance Team Fair, where dancers and their families have the opportunity to meet and speak directly with coaches and representatives from the participating colleges and universities.

The fair creates a comfortable setting for dancers to introduce themselves, learn about different programs, and ask questions before the evening’s classes begin.

Depending on the participating schools, dancers and families may learn more about:

  • Team styles, culture, and performance expectations
  • Recruitment opportunities and timelines
  • Audition requirements and preparation
  • Game-day, competition, and performance commitments
  • Practice schedules and team responsibilities
  • Academic requirements and campus life
  • Scholarships and financial assistance
  • What coaches look for in prospective team members

The participating colleges, universities, coaches, and representatives may vary each season.

Following the Collegiate Dance Team Fair, dancers will take classes in styles commonly featured within college dance team programs, which may include:

  • Pom
  • Jazz
  • Hip-Hop

Classes may be taught by collegiate dance team coaches, choreographers, alumni, or other experienced industry professionals.

The classes are designed to introduce dancers to the precision, performance quality, musicality, athleticism, versatility, and fast-paced choreography frequently expected within collegiate dance team environments.

Dancers will have the opportunity to experience different teaching and performance styles while gaining a better understanding of what it takes to train, audition, and perform as a member of a college dance team.

Collegiate Dance Team Night gives dancers the opportunity to build genuine connections with the participating programs while learning more about the many paths available within collegiate dance.

Meeting coaches in person allows dancers to ask questions, better understand each program’s personality and expectations, and begin identifying which college environments may be the best fit for their goals.

Coaches may also have the opportunity to observe dancers during the evening’s classes. Participation, however, does not guarantee recruitment, an audition invitation, admission, a scholarship, or placement on a collegiate team.

Collegiate Dance Team Night is designed for dancers who are curious about college dance teams, whether they are actively preparing for auditions or are just beginning to explore their options.

Dancers do not need to have selected a college or committed to pursuing a collegiate dance team. The experience is intended to help dancers learn, ask questions, meet coaches, experience new styles, and better understand the opportunities available after high school.

Specific age divisions, eligibility requirements, and participation details will be available through the Season Finale registration portal and official event schedule.

Collegiate Dance Team Night is more than an evening of choreography. It is an opportunity for dancers and families to better understand the expectations, culture, training, and commitment involved in collegiate dance.

Our goal is for dancers to leave the evening feeling more informed, more confident, and more prepared to take the next step in their college dance journey.
